Course work:
Two attempts at gesture, one 30 seconds and the other one minute. I used a felt-tip pen, which moves smoothly across the paper, and photographs well. I remain dissatisfied: I think that I understand the concept, but my execution is flawed.
A vine charcoal drawing of a seated figure, started from life and finished from a digital photograph.

Personal sketchbook work: Made a series of inkblots, let them dry, then tried to imagine something in them and complete it with a pen. This proved diverting, and perhaps even worthwhile.
Total time: 1 hour 6 minutes
