Course work: Two more of what might be called “slow gesture”: I found that they require about two minutes each.

Experimentation with the effect of strong sunlight through a window led to this marker sketch in which only two values are used. Although it is less effective than I had hoped, it is interesting. I followed this with a drawing using a Prismacolor colored pencil.

Personal sketchbook work: A drawing of a watermelon with red chalk pencil.

Weekly reflections on learning experience: A productive week’s work on reviewing the major elements of Assignment Two. I have used a number of different media in my tonal drawings, have come ever closer to the elusive gesture, and have done some experimentation. I think that I shall soon be ready to undertake the actual work of Assignment Five, Part Two, but the two weeks I have so far devoted to refresher work have not been wasted time.

Total time: 1 hour 49 minutes
