Course work: Started by doing fifteen 30- second gestures, then changed to 15 45-second gestures, from reference material. All were done on scrap paper and discarded. I then did two 45-second gestures “for the record” from life, both of which were worse than most of the ones I had done earlier!
I followed this with a tonal drawing in red chalk pencil, and a second with pen and brush, each started from life but finished from digital photographs.
